Culpeper Literacy Council’s vision is to build a stronger community by empowering individuals to improve their quality of life through literacy instruction.
Culpeper Literacy Council provides instruction through trained volunteer tutors for students to improve their literacy skills and those studying ESL. We have a weekly schedule of ESL classes as well as one-on-one tutors who meet with their students weekly. We provide materials such as workbooks, reference material, and learning software. Our literacy students come to us from the United States and all over the world. There are over 26 countries represented through our students at any given time. The majority of our students are from Central and South America, but we also have students from Europe, Africa and Asia. We are always looking for tutors to spend 1-2 hours per week teaching our students. Our tutors are volunteers from the community who give some of their time to meet, help and teach students who are developing their literacy and/or English language skills.
